Starting pay is estimated at $63,200 increasing with education and related experience. Upon graduation from the police training academy, recruit salary increases by $4,562.

Starting pay ranges from $67,700-$85,000 according to education and related experience.

Dispatcher

The University of Kentucky Police Department Communication Officer serves as the critical link between the community and emergency services. This role involves receiving and responding to a wide range of emergency and non-emergency calls. The Communications Officer must quickly assess and interpret each situation, determine the appropriate response, and take action—whether that’s dispatching emergency personnel, providing accurate information, or directing the caller to the appropriate agency.
